Finally, I made it to New Orleans. A beautiful city with a rich history and wonderful cuisine. I spent two nights at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, LA and visited the Laura Plantation nearby. At both plantations the sad history of slavery is acknowledged and at Laura Plantation there are still some slave cabins. At Oak Alley the names of slaves who had been held there are listed on the wall of a model of a slave cabin.
